■Background:
Xiao was the first child and only son to a family that was very wealthy. They were also involved in political issues which meant that they were in the public eye almost all the time. To his parents everything had to be perfect. Every time they left the house, they would have to be properly dressed and have the best manners. Not only did the children have to be on their best behavior nearly all the time but they would have to be the best in academics as well. They spent so much time studying or doing an extracurricular activity like a sport, they barely had time to breathe.While his sisters could deal with the stress, Xiao just couldn't. He would get sick easier then they did and always was bashful. He wasn't the strong son that his parents wanted. No matter how hard he tried it just wasn't in him to be that person. The feeling that he's a disappointment only added to the stress of every day.

There was one thing that helped him deal with all the pressure and that was painting. When he painted he stopped thinking about the world around him like it didn't exist. His mother didn't like it when he painted. She thought it was a waste of time, a little hobby that served no purpose other then to distract him from his responsibilities. The one person that encouraged him to paint was a butler that had served them for a very long time. He always said Xiao had a talent for painting. Even if others took away Xiao's paints and brushes, this one butler would go out and buy him new ones. Xiao looked up to him a lot as he was more of a parent figure then his real parents ever were.

It became evident to Xiao when he was in his early teens that his parents really didn't love each other the way a couple would love each other. Even though they had a family together, their relationship now was just for the children and public appearances. He would see a new person walking in and out everyday and he knew it was just another one of his parents' partners. It confused him why they didn't leave each other but he really had no say in the matter. He didn't like the people that come over though, they acted weird and overall just made him uncomfortable. Eventually the atmosphere at home just was too much for Xiao and he decided to move out before he had a nervous breakdown or something. His parents paid for an apartment and let him leave, by now they didn't see him getting into politics he just wasn't cut out for it so they didn't really care what he did now as long as their image remains intact he could do whatever he wanted. So he did want he wanted and went to go study his passion, art.
